Comman Man's Woes During Monsoons

1. Recent floods in many metropolitan cities of the country during the monsoon season laid bare the hollowness of the claims of the civic authorities of their preparedness. The poor had to bear the brunt of the problem while no one was ever held accountable. Write an article on the common man’s woes during the monsoons and the need for accountability of the officials concerned. You are Amit/Amita Verma.
Ans. Recent floods in many metropolitan cities of the country during the monsoon season laid bare the hollowness of the claims of the civic authorities of their preparedness . The poor have to bear the brunt of the problems while no one is ever held accountable. Slightest rainfall causes the drains overflow , which floods the roads in return. The potholes get filled with water and quickly become breeding grounds for various disease -causing mosquitoes . Malaria , chikungunya and dengue become prevalent during this season . Food supply gets affected due to floods and rescue operations also become difficult leading to heavy loss of life and property .

Since the civic authorities of not take timely action, there is disruption in traffic and connectivity . There is water logging on the roads due to open manholes and sewers resulting in a severe accidents and are a threat to life. Unnecessary traffic jams, electrical failure, office goers and school children half submerged in the drains water overflowing on the road , etc. have become a common sight during the monsoon every year . But, no one is ever held accountable as to why these problems arose. Until and unless the concerned officials are held accountable for their callous and unprofessional behaviour , the scenario is not going to get better for common man.
